Leading by example
Bee’ah recognizes that environmental sustainability goes hand in hand with responsible business. To that end we look forward to working with you in partnership to develop the framework, policies and procedures we need to meet our stated goals.
The
best way to meet these goals is with integrated programs that take into
account not only the major stakeholders, but also the diverse groups of
people who must be engaged to get the job done.
Through
the mobilization of children, students, educators, government, citizens
and industry, we are actively implementing community-wide programs that
are helping Sharjah become a shining example of environmental
leadership, across the Arab world and beyond.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle – The fundamentals of long-term success
These three actions lay the foundation for lasting environmental change.
Reduce refers to lessening the amount of items or resources that are consumed, using only the amount that is needed, and looking for alternatives that will lessen the amount of materials we use.Reuse means extending the 'life' or repurposing an item rather than discarding or throwing it away.
And Recycle means to process old, used items so that the material can be used to make new products. Examples of things that are often recycled are glass, plastic, newspapers, aluminum cans, used motor oil, and cardboard.
Early initiatives and success stories include:
- Implementation of commercial building recycling programs
- East Coast and Central Region landfill closure and remediation
- School education programs, recycling centers and reclamation facilities
- An environmental education center and museum
- Environmental consultancy to the Municipality of Sharjah
- Recycling education to the Sharjah population
These accomplishments represent just a few of the many initiatives that are currently underway. The momentum is growing as together we address the critical issues necessary to save our environment and lead by example.
